Tom Petty at the Gorge

On August 15th we took the boys to see Tom Petty at the Gorge in Wastern Washington. It was 100 degrees when we got there. We got a good spot right in the middle of the grassy hill, about half way down.

It was packed!

Waiting and watching the crowds turned out to be quite entertaining. I've never seen so many drunk, pot smoking old people before! Every turn there was something funny the kids were laughing about. Alex and I stood in line for t-shirts and had a fight break out right in front of us because this chick cut in line right in front of me, and the people in front of me were offended by it. I think they all came from the same trailer park.
The whole hillside was wall to wall people. Once the concert started and it got dark there was no way I wanted to leave the area. We stayed put the whole time.

Oh Lord, a picture speaks a 1000 words.

Beautiful sunset over the Columbia River.

Steve Winwood opened up. He was excellent, his voice sounds just the same. He performed for a little over an hour.

Taking a stretch between Steve Winwood and Tom Petty.

You can barely see it but that's the stage between our heads.

Tom Petty performed for about 2 hours. We left in the middle of the encore so we could miss most of the traffic. Last song we heard was "American Girl". It was a good concert, and I'm glad we went, but it's such a long drive and it's so hot! You definitely have to want to see someone to go all that way.
Next up, Teresa and I are going to see Journey, Heart and Cheap Trick in Auburn. Now that will be fun!!
